Contemporary brown Full Leather binding with blind tooled linear border and inset central panel to front. 4 raised bands to spine with blind tooled decoration in most compartments and gilt title to second. 2 Ornate Brass Corner Pieces to front board but only 1 on the back. Lower Brass clasp present and working but upper clasp is missing. Illustrated with Full Page Plates, mostly B&W Engravings and some in Colour. Protected with Tissue Guards. Illuminated Title Page and Printed Title Page. Frontis Colour Illustration shows Moses and Aaron before Pharoah. Contains both The Old Testament anf The New Testament of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Translated out of the Original Greek. All Page Edges Gilt. 13 1/4" Tall. Edge wear and wear to leathe on spine. Splits to leather down sides of spine and boards almost detachd. Pages and Plates in very Good, clean condition. Weighs 6 Kilos so postage will be extra. C.D.Radcliffe, engraved by E.Landells. xii + 328 pp + 8 page publisher's catalogue dated 1837.VG (The book has been re sewn by us on two tapes laid into split boards, with new plain end papers.An armorial book plate of the previous owner has been re -applied to the front paste down to preserve the integrity of the book. The half title/ frontis/ title page and the other steel engraved plate have been washed and re-sized as they were quite browned when the book was bought in dis-bound). NB The new end papers do not have gilt edges, the front end paper has pulled through the sewing at tapes and kettle stitches and the hand tooling is a little blurred but acceptable and quite legible on the book shelf .
