Answer: With the AMERICA SERVES Student Journal Fundraising Guide! Based on lawyer and mom Linda Falcão's work with multiple groups of fundraisers, and honored by the US Department of Education in 2008 as a guide to service learning, the AMERICA SERVES Student Journal has been used to raise money and resources for nonprofits since 2003. Averaging around $10,000-$12,000 raised per group, the book provides weekly action plans, meeting agendas, ideas for funding and publicity, templates for invitations, group materials, thank you's, and tax ID letters, etc., along with inspirational quotes and a journal section where you can keep notes of your experiences and next steps, and reflect on what your involvement in this journey has meant to you. Nonprofits as diverse as Eve Ensler's Tasaru Girls Rescue Centre, Jesse Ruben's We Can Project, the United Movement to End Child Soldiering, Orphans of Rwanda (now Kepler.org), Polaris Project, and CIVIC (Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict) have used these principles to create new donations to their work and new supporters. While originally used by student groups, the materials can be used by any group (or one or two motivated individuals) to raise money and awareness for your work.
