Book by Bradford David, David Bradford est un homme double. Depuis 1990, à New York, il est un chauffeur de taxi qui fait de la photographie, et un photographe qui conduit un taxi. C'est un homme double, qui va, vient, circule, roule, objectif à la main, associant la photographie au taxi, intimement, comme on fait du lèche-vitrine, fixant pour l'éternité ce qui est en mouvement cependant qu'il est lui-même en mouvement. D'où le titre évocateur Drive-by shootings (dans une édition trilingue, anglais, allemand et français). Ce sont ainsi des photographies de New York de jour et de nuit, au printemps et sous la neige. Des individus dont les vies se croisent pour un bref instant, au creux d'un espace confiné, des plans rapprochés sur les passagers à l'arrière de la voiture, des perspectives verticales, des jeux de reflets sur les vitres des buildings, des angles de rues, des avenues encadrées par de gigantesques bâtiments, des ruelles écrasées par la hauteur, des relents de quotidien new-yorkais saisis parfois dans le rétroviseur.
