La rationalisation des processus de développement de systèmes ne date pas d'aujourd'hui. Elle a cependant pris un cours nouveau avec la diffusion au milieu des années 90 d'un corps de connaissances de l'ingénierie des systèmes. Nombre d'entreprises adoptent de tels processus. Dans ce contexte, notre travail a consisté à: 1- mettre en évidence que la logique de ce corpus est une logique instrumentale des moyens par rapport à des fins, laquelle assure pour une part la répétabilité des résultats recherchés ; 2- montrer que le corpus présente deux lacunes, causes d'incompréhensions: - il n'offre pas de théorie des systèmes techniques cohérente basée sur des concepts robustes mais agrège parfois des notions mal définies et des propositions méthodologiques discutables, - il ne propose pas de dispositifs permettant d'assurer l'entente entre acteurs, et de faire collectivement des choix justifiés; 3- proposer des éléments d'une théorie des systèmes techniques et de leur développement 4- proposer un dispositif collectif de conception et de sa justification; 5- illustrer une partie de nos propositions au cas de la conception innovante d'une chaîne de traction hybride pour véhicules.
