Meinhof im großen ganzen angeschlossen und teilweise mit demselben gemeinsam die draußen gemachten Aufzeichnungen zusammengestellt. Fiir die mir bei dieser Arbeit geleistete freundliche Hilfe sage ich ihm auch an dieser Stelle meinen Dank. Leid tat es mir und tut es mir noch, daß ich sein Buch grundriß einer Lautlehre der Bantusprachen nicht früher in die Hande bekam als Ende des Jahres 1902; mir wäre wohl manches eher klar ge worden, wozu ich ohne dasselbe erst nach Jahren kam, da ich keine andere Hilfe hatte als zuvor die etwa jährige Erfahrung im Kondelande. Die Schreibweise ist im ganzen streng phonetisch, doch nach Möglichkeit vereinfacht. So wird z.b. Mit v, plz, kit, th mit p, k, t usw. Be zeichnet überall da, wo Irrtumer ausgeschlossen s'md.
