L'ouvrage présente la problématique liée à l'intégration des fonctions de l'entreprise qui est abordée d'un point de vue méthodologique et sous l'angle de la modélisation en entreprise. La stratégie préconisée s'appuie sur une phase préliminaire de préparation à l'intégration. Elle permet à l'entreprise de mieux s'identifier, de se positionner et de réussir son projet d'intégration. Des méthodes, approches, architectures d'intégration et de modélisation en entreprise ont été présentées. Une démarche globale d'intégration a été proposée, elle repose sur sept étapes et comporte trois phases. Les analyses internes et externes à l'entreprise, le choix de la stratégie d'intégration et de modélisation intégrée ont été abordés. Le formalisme orienté objet et plus particulièrement le concept de composants réutilisables (patrons) a été utilisé pour modéliser les différentes étapes des processus de production et de maintenance. Les modèles partiels obtenus ont permis d'élaborer le métamodèle lié à chaque processus. Une part importante des approches proposées a été expérimentée et validée dans une entreprise manufacturière.
