His first children's book, "1,2,3 to the Zoo" (1968) was an immediate success and his second, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" (1969) brought him international acclaim and has established itself as a modern classic. He and his wife now live in northern Massachusetts. A simpler version of "Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me" was written by Mr. Carle a number of years ago for his daughter Cirsten, who found it both heartening and inspiring. Now he has created new illustrations for his original story, and shares its message with a wider audience. A father is willing to get the moon for his beloved little girl.
