This is the Second Edition, following the 1st Edition from J.B. Lippincott in 1935. Appears to be an exact reprinting (duplication) of the original 1st Edition, the first since 1935. Introduction by the anthropologist Franz Boas, with all 10 of the drawings by Miguel Covarrubias. A well-made book, bound in heavy-duty, cloth-covered boards with embossed gilt lettering on the spine. The book has no significant flaws, but it does show brief, occasional, minor signs of use and age (a touch of wear to the cloth binding at the corners and spine ends, a few spots of soiling to the exterior page edges, 2 thin pen lines on the bottom exterior page edges which are likely remainder marks, previous owner's small pre-printed address label on blank front page). The book otherwise is quite clean, stain-free, and unmarked, is square and straight, firm and tight in its binding, with no pages loose, missing, or torn. Hinges are sound and undamaged, corners are sharp and not bumped. All pages are clean and stain-free, and all text and illustrations are crisp and legible. We detected no writing, underlining, highlighting or markings of any such kind in the text. The cloth binding has the aforementioned light wear at the corners, but is otherwise quite unworn and unmarked, remarkably clean and stain-free.
