English summary: In the necropolis of Lipari, large numbers of clay masks from the 4th and early 3rd Century BC have been found that represent an important local feature. They are based in their form on theatrical masks from the same period and are therefore regarded for their value as sources of insight into ancient theater. An investigation of the masks in their context within the necropolis allows for important conclusions about their function and their importance in the context of the grave ritual to be drawn. Apparently, they belonged - together with symposium dishes - to a dead victim and were meant to serve the deceased in the afterlife during a drinking party in honor of Dionysus. German text. German description: In der Nekropole von Lipari haben sich grosse Mengen von Tonmasken aus dem 4. und fruhen 3. Jahrhundert v. Chr. gefunden, die eine bedeutende lokale Besonderheit darstellen. Sie orientieren sich in ihrer Formensprache an gleichzeitigen Theatermasken und werden deshalb nach ihrem Quellenwert fur das antike Theater befragt. Eine Untersuchung der Masken in ihrem Kontext in der Nekropole erlaubt wichtige Ruchschlusse auf ihre Funktion und Bedeutung im Rahmen des Grabrituals. Offenbar gehorten sie zusammen mit Symposionsgeschirr zu einem Totenopfer und sollten den Verstorbenen im Jenseits bei einem Trinkfest im Gefolge des Dionysos zur Verfugung stehen.
