Exhibitions have been in a state of constant transformation since the nineteen-eighties—shows of museum collections became lifestyle events, places of work became temporary museums, and the museum itself became a place of learning where people could look, learn and do it -themselves. Exhibition presentation is the decisive factor within all of this; it must simultaneously take place, collection and object, curatorial demands and visitors into account. While the renaissance of collection dates back to the beginnings of museums, new solutions in design and technology is leading it to pave the way for the future of exhibition presentation. This publication traces twenty-five years of experience by museumstechnik. It shows a natural alliance between museums and technology, presenting exemplary concepts and approaches to design while also stealing a glance at the future development of exhibitions.

Seit den 80er Jahren wandeln sich Ausstellungen stetig: So werden museale Sammlungsschauen zum Lifestyle-Event, Orte der Arbeit zu Museen auf Zeit und das Museum selbst zum Lernort, in dem geschaut, gefragt und selbst gemacht werden darf. Entscheidend dabei ist die Ausstellungspräsentation, die gleichermaßen Ort, Sammlung und Objekt, kuratorische Anforderungen und vor allem den Besucher berücksichtigen muss. Es scheint, als ob die Renaissance der Sammlung zu den Anfängen des Museums zurückführt, aber durch neue Lösungen in Gestaltung und Technik gleichsam wegweisend für die Zukunft der Ausstellungspräsentation ist.

Diese Publikation zeichnet 25 Jahre Erfahrung in der museumstechnik nach. Sie zeigt die selbstverständliche Allianz von Museum und Technik, präsentiert beispielhafte Konzepte und Gestaltungsansätze und wirft einen Blick auf zukünftige Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten in der Ausstellungspräsentation.
